What's unique about Nebraska's Middle School wrestling season is that is lies right in the middle of the entire Youth Wrestling season. So most kids who like wrestling and plan to wrestle in high school will generally practice and compete from December through the end of March concluding their season with a state tournament. The Middle School season however is much shorter consisting of a few duals and just a few chances to wrestle in a tournament. This lasts just a few weeks starting mid January.
A good recommendation from us is to start your wrestling season in December with the Club, when the Middle School season starts stick with them for practices and school related events. During this time there will be several weekend meets that our club coaches will be at, but are not necessarily sponsored by the school. It is a good idea to go to these meets to continue to get more experience and competition. When the Middle School season ends, wrestlers are encouraged to finish the rest of the Youth Wrestling Season with the Club, enter into districts and try to wrestle at state. A good number of matches to get each season is around 35 (several kids get more than this). Middle school alone will only get you a part of that number and experience.
Basically, start with the club, do your middle school season responsibilities, end with the club.
